“And my God will fully satisfy every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19 NRSV
“but he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness.” So, I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9 NRSV
I first became aware of that first verse while working my way through college in the late 40’s. Sometimes the task seemed impossible, but by God’s grace I graduated only $200.00 in debt! For years, I only thought of that verse in terms of financial or material need.
Over the years, however, I have increasingly experienced God meeting needs far beyond finances. Most recently, there has been the encouraging support this community of faith has provided as I recuperate from that freak accident. I can hardly express my gratitude to you and to our Lord who has worked through you.
But, there’s more – at a yet far deeper level. Within the last two weeks, two of our church families have experienced the death of loved ones. In the midst of heartbreak, they have repeatedly spoken of their confident expectation of reunion with those who have gone before. They have experienced the sufficiency of God’s grace meeting their needs for peace, comfort and assurance.
Praise God that EVERY need is more than matched by the sufficiency and riches of his grace in Christ Jesus!
In Christian Love,
Pastor Harriet
