From the Pastor: June 21, 2004 (For Me, For Us)
The verse puts it “for you.” “You,” however, can mean “you” as an individual or “you” as a group. I, as an individual have experienced God’s grace through you as individuals and as a congregation for 13 months. Particularly, and right now, thank you for your prayers, visits, phone calls, gifts, cards and notes, since my June 7th fall and injury. Through them you are instruments of God’s grace, helping me through periods of frustration, grief and even anger at being torn from you so suddenly. Your love is a gift that I treasure and for which I thank God.
I know, too, that this incident has been disruptive for the church and caused a great deal of extra work for some of you – particularly for the Diaconate. I have prayed for God’s grace for you (as individuals, as the Diaconate and as the congregation) in facing and dealing with this situation.
This verse (a favorite of mine, as many of you know) takes on fresh and added meaning each time we face a challenge and experience that wonderful sufficiency. God bless you all!
In Jesus’ matchless grace
