Members of the Pastoral Search Committee have been asked several times recently the name of the pastoral candidate that was coming to Kansas City for the candidate weekend. Now committee members no longer need to respond with deflections about confidentiality to these questions. Now the name of our newly called Pastor can be revealed and known as Pastor David Moor. Pastor Dave and his wife Kelly and son Josh traveled from their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Kansas City for the candidate weekend on July 17-18. Their daughter Lauren joined them in Kansas City after traveling from Estes Park, Colorado where she attended the ABC Youth Conference. On Saturday July 17th, the congregation met Pastor Dave and his family at an all church dinner. He revealed in an informal setting, his ability to be spontaneous, spiritual and humorous. Pastor Dave took questions from the congregation, of which some touched on serious contemporary issues and some were directed at his decision making process in deciding to consider the Pastorate of Grace Baptist Church. He asked those in attendance as to what attracted them to the congregation and he challenged the congregation to seek a vision for future ministry for the congregation. The following day in worship service Pastor Dave led in several areas of the worship service including the Children’s Story and the message on “Worship that Pleases God”. His message outline concluded with the question, “How is your friendship with God?” Following the worship service a special business meeting was convened to consider issuing a call to Pastor Dave. The congregation voted to extend the call to Pastor Dave and he accepted the call to be the Pastor of Grace Baptist Church. Members of the Pastoral Search Committee felt guided by the Holy Spirit in each step of the search process. Now that Pastor Dave has been called as our next pastor, let us continue to pray for the continued leading of the Holy Spirit as we anticipate the beginning of his ministry.
