Thoughts from Pastor Dave: February 28, 2005 40 Days of AFC? 40 Days of AFC? No that’s not right. I seem to be a little confused today. I have two important pieces of information that I want to share with you, but they seem to be running together in my mind as well as running back to back on the calendar. So let me try to “unconfuse” (is that even a word?) myself as I share these two important spiritual growth opportunities. March is the month that Grace Baptist Church joins with sister American Baptist Churches to collect the America for Christ Offering or AFC. The AFC offering is the lifeblood of our ABC witness in America, one of the most difficult mission fields around the globe. Over 75 Million Americans are currently unchurched. Through your AFC gifts American Baptist congregations share our witness for Jesus Christ with these 75 million people through ministries including Evangelism Training, American Baptist Youth Conferences, New Church Plants and Neighborhood Action Christian Centers. I encourage you to join me for the 31 Days of AFC and to give generously so that our witness to the redeeming power of Jesus may be as vibrant at home as it is abroad. So if March is the 31 Days of AFC , where does this 40 Day thing come in? Beginning Saturday, April 9th and running through Sunday, May 22, Grace Baptist Church will be participating in the spiritual growth campaign called 40 Days of Purpose . During these 6 weeks, our entire church family will be focusing on God’s design for life as we ask the question, “What on earth am I here for?” There are three important ways that you can be part of this spiritual growth campaign:
In the coming weeks you will be hearing more about 40 Days of Purpose and how to be a part of this exciting experience. For now, I would ask you to do two things. First, reserve these six weeks on your calendar. Second, pray. Pray about your level of involvement during this campaign. For His Glory, Pastor Dave
